The Zego Sense app uses your smartphone's sensors to get to know your driving behaviours and movements over time. This means that it will quickly learn the difference between when you’re driving and when you’re a passenger on a bus or a train.
However, there may be occasions where it's difficult to distinguish when you are driving in your insured vehicle and when you are travelling as a passenger in someone else's vehicle.
To help with this, it's best to make sure your phone is connected to your vehicle’s Bluetooth whenever you're driving. This connection allows the Sense app to more accurately detect whether you are behind the wheel, ensuring that your driving score reflects your own driving habits — not someone else’s.
Here’s what to do:
Open your phone’s Bluetooth settings.
Pair your phone with your vehicle's Bluetooth system.
Make sure Bluetooth stays turned on when driving.
Keep the Zego Sense app running in the background (as required with a Zego Sense policy)
If your vehicle doesn’t have Bluetooth, or you’re having any issues connecting, please let us know – we’ll be happy to help.
Do I have the option to classify a trip as a 'Passenger Trip' myself in the Zego Sense app?
At the moment, no. But you can contact us to review a passenger trip.
We'll need to know the specific date and time, and where you were a passenger (for example, on a train) so that we can review it. If we can clearly see a difference in the driving behaviour, we'll ignore the trip.
Once we've done this, the next day your driver score will be recalculated.
