What is a Zego Sense policy?

Updated over a week ago

A Sense policy is our app-based insurance designed for drivers who want to be rewarded for how they drive.

Unlike standard insurance, Zego Sense is priced on your driving, not just your age or your vehicle. Good drivers get better deals. The Sense app gives you a driver rating based on how you drive over time, and the higher your rating, the more you can save when you renew!

After purchasing a Sense policy, you'll download the Zego Sense app and turn on a few permissions on your phone. We'll guide you through the setup, it only takes a few minutes, but if you need extra help, you can follow this guide for extra help and support.

Once you're set up, the app runs quietly in the background and tracks your driving automatically.

The Sense app measures five areas of your driving: acceleration, braking, cornering, speeding, and rest. These combine to give you an overall driver rating. The better your rating, the greater your potential savings at renewal.

The Zego Sense app contains lots of features to help you manage your policy yourself, but to name a few, you can:

  • Monitor your driver rating

  • Download your policy documents

  • Renew your policy

  • Change your vehicle, address, phone number and email

  • Register a new claim

Installation

After purchasing your policy, you'll need to download the Zego Sense app and enable a few permissions on your phone. We'll guide you through the setup, it only takes a few minutes. If you ever run into any trouble getting the app set up, our support team is here to help. In the rare cases where the app remains inactive despite our support, we'll always send a warning first and give you reasonable time to resolve it before we make any decisions about your policy.

Poor driving

Zego Sense is designed to reward good driving, and for the vast majority of our customers, it does exactly that. If your driver rating dips below the minimum required for your policy, we won't act without notice. We'll send you a warning with a clear timeframe and guidance on what to focus on to improve your rating. Our team is here to help if you need it. In cases where a rating doesn't improve despite those warnings, we may need to make a decision about whether the policy remains the right fit.

Important things to remember

  • Keep the app active: You must keep the Sense app installed with permissions enabled at all times (even if you are a passenger in another vehicle). If you ever have trouble with the app, our support team is here to help!

  • Maintain a safe driver rating: In the rare cases where a driver's rating falls below the minimum required for the policy, we'll always send a warning first and give you time to improve before we make any decisions about your policy.
