I've received a motoring conviction. What should I do?

Updated over a week ago

If you receive a motoring conviction, or you've had penalty points applied to your driving licence, you'll need to let us know so that we can add it to your policy.

To add your motoring conviction, we'll need to know the following:

  • The conviction code (for example, SP30, TS10 or TT99)

  • The date of conviction

  • The number of penalty points, or if a driving ban has been applied.

You'll be able to find this information on your driving licence.

It's important that you inform us about any new motoring convictions as soon as possible. If you don't inform us when recieved, it could affect your ability to make a claim.

To add a new motoring conviction, just get in touch with us. The easiest way to do this is using live chat!

Please note, additional motoring convictions will likely affect the price of your insurance policy and may affect your eligibility.

I can't find the details of my motoring conviction. What can I do?

Motoring convictions are no longer shown on photocard driving licences. Instead, you'll need to visit the gov.uk website here. To get your licence information, you'll need:

  • your driving licence number,

  • your National Insurance number, and

  • the postcode on your licence.
