Where do I send the proof of my NCD?
In general, your proof of No Claims Discount (NCD), or No Claims Bonus, should be sent via live chat.
However, we may also contact you to request your NCD proof, as follows:
By Email: If you have received an email from us requesting your proof, you should reply to that email directly with your proof attached to ensure the correct team receives it.
By Whatsapp: If you have recieved a Whatsapp message from us requesting your proof, you'll need to send us your documents directly through Whatsapp. We'll provide you with instructions when we message you. You'll see a purple Zego Logo next to the phone number - that way you'll know it's from us.
Once we've verified your proof, we'll send you an email to confirm that we've accepted it and added it to your policy.
What do you accept as proof of my NCD?
Combo policies (social, domestic and pleasure, plus hire and reward)
In order to provide us with valid proof of your no claims discount, you must send us either:
Your cancellation letter when switching to a new provider
The official proof of NCD issued by the previous insurer
The proof must be less than 2 years old, can be used on any vehicle but cannot be used on another policy at the same time.
This must be in the form of the original PDF document issued from your previous insurer (it cannot be a re-saved document).
Hire and reward only cover (pay-as-you-go and 30 day car courier)
As this is a top up policy (used on top of your current social, domestic and pleasure cover), you'll need to send us proof from your current SD&P insurance.
As with combo policies, we'll accept a cancellation letter or official proof above, but we'll also accept you renewal letter. The proof must be dated from within the last year and must be for the same vehicle.
The information we need on your NCD proof
The proof must:
State your name
State your registration number
Include the number of years NCD
State the expiry date of the policy
Be from a UK insurer
State how the vehicle was used e.g. Private Hire, Social Domestic and Pleasure (SD&P)
Important: We can only accept NCD proof from your previous insurance company for one vehicle. We cannot combine, or add together the number of years of NCD earned from multiple vehicles or insurers.
When do I need to send you my proof of NCD?
After purchasing a new policy with us where you have declared 1 or more years NCD, you are required to send us proof from your previous insurer within 14 days of the policy start date.
What happens if I don't send you my proof of NCD?
If we don't receive your proof of NCD, the following will happen:
We will reduce the NCD on your policy to 0 years. This will likely result in an additional premium and an administration fee being charged.
If you are unable to pay the additional premium, we'll need to cancel your policy.
If you request NCD proof from us in future, we will only be able to provide you with NCD proof for any NCD you have built up with Zego, not including the previous number of years you have declared.
What happens if the number of years I've declared doesn't match my NCD proof?
If you notice that the number of years stated on your NCD proof doesn't match what you declared to us when purchasing your new policy, it's best to contact us as soon as possible.
We'll need to adjust the number of years you've declared to match what is stated on your NCD proof. We'll discuss any additional premiums when you contact us.
Does the use of the vehicle matter with proof of NCD?
Yes it does.
If you have purchased a taxi policy with us, the NCD proof must state that it was previously used on taxi insurance (either private hire or public hire). We cannot accept non-taxi NCD proof with taxi insurance.
We can accept both commercial or SD&P proof for our other products. However, if you provide us with taxi NCD proof for a non-taxi policy, it will no longer be valid for future taxi insurance policies.
What if I have earned NCD on motor insurance overseas?
Unfortunately we cannot accept NCD proof from a non-UK insurance company. We will only accept proof if it is issued by a UK insurer. (This is for UK policies).
What happens if NCD proof is found out to be forged or altered?
If you submit a false, altered or forged NCD document, this is considered to be fraud. As such, we may be able to do one or more of the following:
refuse or reduce any claim payment to you;
apply additional terms or limitations to your policy;
cancel your policy, which depending on circumstances, may be with immediate effect;
avoid your policy entirely, which means treating the policy as though it never came into effect; and/or
retain any premium you have paid, and if you are paying monthly the full amount of premium may still need to be paid.
Where fraud is identified we will pass details to any fraud prevention, other insurers, and/or law enforcement agencies, including but not limited to the Police for the purposes of preventing and/or prosecuting fraud and money laundering.
